Architecturally, an exedra is a semi-circular niche in a structure and usually contains a tone seating area. The seating area provided an opportunity for public conversations and philosophical discussions.
In the garden, the semi-circular form of the exedra may be used to separate two different areas or as a terminus at the end of a corridor. Within the recesses created by the exedra, one may find a fountain, benches or ornate paving – a welcomed break from the immediate surroundings.
Whether in a public landscape or a private garden, at Exedra Design we strive to create unique features in the landscape which inspire, heal and enlighten.
